Meet Sydney (she/her)
Sydney Huppert, LMHC
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor
Licensed in the state of New York (License # 015509)
I believe each client is the expert on their own life and deserves to be treated as an equal partner in the therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a nonjudgmental, empathetic space that honors each person’s unique way of thinking, feeling, and experiencing the world. I believe clients already hold the strengths and tools needed to navigate their challenges. As a therapist, it’s a privilege to walk along beside you through this journey.
My Specialties & Area of Focus
I work with children, teens, and adults navigating a range of mental health and life challenges. I provide neuroaffirming care to support the unique challenges faced by Autistic and ADHD clients. I focus on supporting executive functioning differences, emotional regulation, burnout, identity development, and navigating systems that weren’t built for neurodivergent brains. As someone with ADHD myself, I bring personal insight as well as clinical training into the therapy space. I also work with clients experiencing anxiety, OCD, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My approach is strengths-based, collaborative, and grounded in affirming care that honors each client’s unique nervous system and way of being.

My Style in Session
My approach to therapy is holistic and rooted in the belief that meaningful change begins with a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. Research consistently shows that the best predictor in successful therapy is the strength of the relationship between the client and therapist. Together, we’ll identify your unique needs and goals so you can grow in the ways that feel most meaningful and supportive to you.
-
Relational therapy centers on exploring your experiences, relationships, social framework, and unconscious thoughts to uncover how they have shaped your relational self. This method is rooted in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic theories, emphasizing the importance of the client-therapist relationship.
-
I provide care that affirms neurodivergent ways of thinking, learning, and interacting. Therapy focuses on understanding your unique strengths and challenges rather than trying to “fit” into neurotypical expectations, empowering you to navigate the world in ways that work for you.
-
ACT helps clients clarify their values and take meaningful action toward a life they want. In session, we work on accepting difficult thoughts and feelings while committing to behaviors that align with what truly matters to you, fostering greater psychological flexibility and resilience.
-
I use a person-centered approach to ensure therapy is supportive, validating, and tailored to your individual needs. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you are truly heard and understood. This approach emphasizes empathy, authenticity, and respect, supporting you to explore challenges, build self-awareness, and grow in the ways that feel most meaningful to you.
-
ERP is a structured approach often used for anxiety and OCD. In session, we gradually and safely confront feared thoughts, situations, or sensations while learning to resist unhelpful compulsions or avoidance. This helps reduce anxiety over time and builds confidence in your ability to face challenges without relying on avoidance, fostering lasting change.
